RED MESA SUNSET is Chet's first all-instrumental CD which
draws from his years of classical training on cello and piano. It was inspired by a musical piece that he wrote for the website
OurPrayerBucket.com. This is a collection of soothing and
memorable melodies. We recommend you wear earphones when listening to Chet's music. The composition, "Serengeti Rain", was recently awarded a Special Mention Award in The Music Aid International Song Competition.

With over 40 years of musical composing, performing and teaching, Chet Nichols' album, Red Mesa Sunset, invites us on a truly mesmerizing audio vacation. The title song paints a sonic image of the Southwest similar to how Pat Matheny's South American influences created imagery of California through sound. The song, Red Mesa Sunset, vividly captivates Southwestern imagery via pure audio-sonic delight. Throw on the song, Serengeti Rain, and you are transported to the African continent. The song, Night Train, lifts you up and carries you along the rolling prairie on a crisp moonlit night. Prayer Bucket, a song written as a theme song to the OurPrayerBucket.com website, is a pulsating, spacey, healing composition. The beautifully melodic, Earth River, deposits you into a musical rowboat and drifts you downstream on a summer day. Out Of The Blue, an ethereal composition lifts you high above the Southwestern desert as you fly above the landscape. Finally, the jazzy-Latin, Malibu Sunday, transports you to the beaches of Malibu as they fill with people from all walks of life as they enjoy a Sunday at the beach.

Each song has a separate taste and feel, like the planets in our universe, and like the planets, each needs to be experienced. Chet isn't a Kitchen Magician; he's The Musical Magician Extraordinaire!
