A CD REVIEW:

This CD by Chet Nichols is an interesting collection of songs. Except for the rocking intro band piece, "I Want The Best That We Can Give", the rest of the album is solo and unplugged. The songs are filled with
vivid lyrics. For instance in "Old Friends" he depicts this scene.....
"I saw you on the river/You were rowing with your gun/And when the bottom was
filled with holes/Your rowing was all done".

The songs tell tales of the life on the touring road, best described in "Backstage" and "Paradise". Nichols doesn't sugar coat it either. He tells it like it is. The collection of tunes grew on me because of their vivid simplicity. I found myself letting it play over and over as I drove towards Denver chasing a sunset into the mountains. Nichols is a real painter of scenes and on this CD there is a lot Joni Mitchell, Dylan and Tim Buckley atttitudes in their quiet moments. It's not a folk record, much more a singer-songwriter effort. For me, it hits the mark and I highly recommend it.........Will, Colorado
